My favorite thing to do in Atlanta is try all of the restaurants. There are so many and I think the people here are willing to engage with different cultures, which allows for Atlanta itself to feel like a melting pot.
My favorite Emory tradition is Songfest. At Songfest all of the first-year students get together and make parodies about why their residence hall is the best. It was a great way for me to get to know the people on my floor and build a sense of community so early in the semester. We were all dancing and being silly, which I think helped us as an ice breaker.
You will usually find me doing homework or taking a walk to enjoy nature, especially at the Lullwater Preserve. I like to find new places to study and it's fun to change up the scenery. A couple of my favorite study spaces are the Cox Hall Computing Center and the Atwood Chemistry Center.
My most impactful class has been Black Women and the Politics of Beauty because the majority of the students were Black and that made me feel more comfortable in the classroom. Having classmates who genuinely wanted to become more educated on the subject gave me a sense of community. It made me think deeper into issues that have been occurring for centuries and still happen to me.
