In the library, usually on the third floor! I’m not always working - sometimes I go with my friends, or to get snacks and sometimes I go to find a peaceful spot to read for pleasure. The atmosphere is so calming and the reading room is beautiful and a really peaceful place to study.
I really loved my History class (HIST150), which was Great Works of Western Civilisation. We get to look at a variety of cultures over history and the discussion nature of the class really allows for impactful insights. We read a huge range, starting as far back as the Bible and going up to George Orwell. There were a lot of famous texts I read for the first time in that class. My favourite part, however, was the close bond I formed with my class and professor by the end of the semester.
Explore! Going shopping or to a mall is always great, even if you don’t buy anything. It’s fun to spend time with your friends in a new city and discover new things. I take a lot of shuttles, especially the Experience Shuttles which are designed to introduce people to events in Atlanta, such as the lantern festival I went to in fall semester.
I love that all the residence halls participate in SongFest at the beginning of the year, which is a big song and dance competition between the halls. It’s such a great opportunity to get to know everyone in your residence halls, as well as having fun singing and dancing. I definitely was able to form bonds with people in my hall, get to know some older students and also get some fun exercise in at the start of the year.
