Go to Cook-Out. It is a really inexpensive fast food restaurant with good milkshakes! I love to go with my friends whenever we need a study break.
I spend a lot of time in Woodruff Library (the main library on campus). There are a variety of study spots in the library based on noise level, comfort, etc. I can always find a nice place there to get some work done.
I took a first-year seminar on the U.S.-Mexico border which was an amazing class. It was small, so I got to know my peers and professor really well. The class structure was unique and really fun. We had a lot of artistic freedom in class projects and discussions, and we went on a few field trips. The class taught me a lot about the history of border spaces which lead to the current sociopolitical climate.
Songfest! All the first-year students engage in a song & dance competition with their residence halls during the first week of classes. It is a great way to build community and feel a sense of belonging at college.
