Matthew J.

at Emory University

Class of 2023

Hometown: Jawa, Indonesia

Major: Economics and Mathematics

On a random day, you're most likely to find me….

Putting in the hours at the Woodruff library, sampling more of the Dobbs Common Table's wonderful foods, or hitting the gym at the Woodruff Physical Education Center.

My favorite thing to do in Atlanta is...

Going up and down Buford Highway and sampling all the authentic Pan-Asian food available in Atlanta!

What is your favorite Emory tradition?

My favorite Emory tradition is Songfest! It's a tradition where each first-year residence hall comes together to sing and dance about just how amazing our residence hall is (go Longstreet-Means!). I had a bunch of fun singing, dancing, and bonding with the rest of my hallmates!

What has been your most impactful class?

Thus far, History 100 with Prof. Matthew Payne has been my most interesting class. Each lecture is taught by a different professor in the history department! I have learned so much about many different areas in history, and even had the chance to hear a lecture from Dean Elliot, the Dean of Emory College of Arts and Sciences!
