Explore the arts events here! I recently got to attend the Decatur Book Festival and listen to some incredible talks by activists, writers, and scholars. I also can’t wait to attend concerts and other performances like Music Midtown that come to Atlanta.
I absolutely love Songfest, an event in which all of the first-year residence halls compete against each other through song and dance. I had so much fun getting to know people in my building and really developed a lot of spirit and pride in my residence hall.
I really enjoy my first-year seminar, titled Natural Disasters: Science vs. Hollywood. Not only is it fascinating and relevant to learn about natural disasters in the time of climate change, but it’s a lot of fun to analyze how they are represented in Hollywood movies and see what misconceptions the public might hold about such calamities. Getting to meet other first-year students interested in environmental science and learn more about the issues climate change is bringing upon society have galvanized me to continue my involvement in environmental advocacy.
Playing tennis with my friends. Emory has ten tennis courts, four inside and six outside, which means that I can always find an open court to play or practice. It’s a lot of fun and only a few minutes from my residence hall!
