For starters, drinking a lot of coffee. I'm also always attempting to find the best study spot on campus and frequently try out new spots depending on what I'm working on! And if the weather's nice (which it often is), sitting outside somewhere!
Try out new restaurants!! I like to say I am an aspiring foodie and Atlanta has such amazing food!! Some personal favorites are Iberian Pig, no246, Blue India, and Sun in My Belly!
My favorite tradition is Songfest. This is an Emory tradition in which first-years compete amongst different residence halls. I missed out on it as a freshman, but I was able to lead it as a sophomore advisor. It's so much fun and such a unique, amazing time for bonding and school spirit!
Because I'm indecisive, I'm gonna say what my two most impactful classes have been 1) My freshman seminar, REL 190: Memoirs of the Holocaust. Taught by the incredible Dr. Deborah Lipstadt, the course completely changed my approach towards confronting "ugly" history - that can so often be diminished or avoided. It was an incredible opportunity and introduction into Emory's renowned academic programs! 2) HIST/ANT 378: Global History of Human Trafficking taught by Dr. Adriana Chira. This course was incredibly thought-provoking, powerful, and informative. I find we must first examine our global histories to begin trying to understand modern political, social, and economic systems. Moreover, learning under Dr. Chira is an absolute privilege and pleasure! She's one of the best at Emory and in her field!
