My favorite thing to do in Atlanta is look for spots to eat! I love El Tesoro, Glide Pizza, or anything at Ponce City Market.
My favorite Emory tradition is the Coke Toast! It's a first-year tradition where each student is given an Emory t-shirt and a glass bottle of Coke, and we toast to our next few years together. I still have my glass Coke bottle from that day, and if you bring your bottle to the First Day Fest, you can get your name and class year engraved. It's such a cute keepsake that's super unique to Emory.
...hanging out outside the Cox Computing Center and drinking a Summer Almond iced coffee from Blue Donkey!
My most impactful class so far has been HIST 285: Latin American Lives. We spent the entire course reading memoirs and testimonios written by marginalized individuals throughout Latin American history, and we then connected their stories to the broader narrative of global history. I especially loved the creative assignments in that class, like writing our own autobiographies and drafting museum exhibit proposals. Through this class, I also learned a lot about my own Hispanic roots.
