Songfest! We spend a few days learning the words and choreography to a performance in which we roast the other first-year residence halls. I lived in Complex Hall my first year and we won 1st place(!), which definitely gave us bragging rights throughout the year. It really brought me closer to my hallmates my first semester!
Walk through Centennial Olympic Park on a Saturday night and find a new restaurant or cuisine to try. I always like going to Ponce City Market or one of the nearby malls as well. One thing's for sure: I'm never running out of things to do!
Studying for an exam in Biology or Chemistry, lounging on the Quad, or at the Dobbs Common Table (our main dining hall). On the weekends, maybe exploring new places downtown or playing way too intensely in a friendly game of pickup basketball or ping pong.
I absolutely loved my first-year seminar class, Astrobiology. It combined two of my passions in a way that I had never experienced before. I learned about the biology and physics of star formation, black holes, supernovae, and a host of other astronomy-related topics, topics that I had always been interested in but ones that I had never expected to actually learn about in a class.
