I really like going to Dr. Bombay's Underwater Tea Party with friends. The name of the place is a mouth-full, but it's just this tiny little tea place near Little Five Points. When I go, I usually take the MARTA system, which was surprisingly easy to navigate once I got the hang of it. It will probably take me the next four years of college to decide which of their tea is my favorite, they're all so good!
Sociology of Advertising has been the most impactful class I have taken at Emory. Beyond fulfilling my First-Year Seminar requirement, the class gave me an opportunity to discuss and share my ideas with my peers, pushing me out of my comfort zone. The size of the class was 17 students so by the end of the semester we all became well acquainted with one another. I never hesitate to greet any of these friends when I see them around campus. I'm especially grateful I had the opportunity to take this class because when it ended, my professor asked me to conduct some research for is computational linguistics project. Now I'll be working with my professor for the next couple of years to conduct computational linguistic research and receive credit hours for doing it.
My favorite tradition is the Jimmy Carter Town Hall. President Carter, who hails from Georgia, comes every year in September and all the first years are invited to attend. He speaks for a bit and then he opens the floor for questions, allowing us to hear about an experience that only three other people in the world share.
